FAQ - Can I Use 18Birdies to Run My Weekly League?
Having a regular golf group is a great way to keep that competitive edge while staying close with your golfing crew.
We often will get requests from golf league organizers asking if it is possible to run a weekly golf league while solely using the 18Birdies app...the answer is YES!
This means less work you each week, Tournament Organizer.
Using 18Birdies to Run a Weekly League
Let's walk through how this would work (follow the process listed below)...
Create a Private Group | Groups
- Open the app and tap Community.
- Tap Groups.
- Tap Create new group.
- Enter group name (Shultz's Slicers, etc), tap Save.
Invite Members | Adding a Player to Your Group
From the Group Details page, tap Invite Members.
From here, you have a few different options. You can either invite from your existing 18Birdies friends list (Invite from friends list), search and add from the 18Birdies database of users (Search 18Birdies users), invite from your device contact list/ address book (Search my contact list), or send an invitation link through text message or email (Create invitation link).
Once you have invited the players and the group is formed, you will then need to create the first tournament.
Creating a Tournament | Creating a New Golf Tournament
- Open the app and tap Play.
- Tap My Tournaments.
- Tap Create New Tournament and set up your tournament as desired.
Inviting The Group to the Tournament
When you have created your tournament, you should be taken to that tournaments home page and there should be a small drop down menu that appears in the upper right corner (if not, tap the three dots in the upper right corner).
- Tap Invite Players.
- Tap Copy Code to Share
Next
- Go back to the 18Birdies app home page and tap Community on the bottom.
- Tap Groups.
- Find and tap the private group you created.
- Tap the blue quill icon near the bottom left corner.
- Paste the Tournament Code that you copied in the body of the message. Then, add whatever messaging you want to communicate to the group.
Post
When you hit Post, a notification will automatically be sent to the entire private group that you just created. The players will then have the option to accept the tournament invitation, or decline the tournament invitation.
The players will then automatically be added to the tournament and you won't have to worry about anything until the day of.
When the day of the tournament rolls around, each player will just need to start their tournament round and you should be good to go. The tournament leaderboard will be live and accessible for all participants.
For any of the players who did not play in the weekly tournament, they can enter the Gallery Code and follow along with the days play, or view the results after the round.
